Scott Michelle Voyage...We're Still Here!

This pic was taken in January...I'm happy to report Scott is clean shaven now. :)

Blog SLACKER! That's me! So sorry!! I guess I thought that since this is a sailing/travel blog, people wouldn't be too interested since we're not sailing right now. However, I've been getting a lot of messages wondering what we're up to so I figured I better get back into blog mode! The truth is, for a lot of us sailors...this is part of the life. Hurricane season puts a little glitch in sailing travel unless you sail further south (like to Grenada, Trinidad, etc.). We plan on doing that exact thing later this year but for this hurricane season, like many sailors, we needed to come home. And what a whirlwind it has been since we got here! We've spent the last month catching up with friends & family which has included many pool parties....

A Mötley Crew!

2 trips to Mexico....

Jib & his BFF Luke enjoying some beach time at our condo in Mexico

a camping trip up north...

Scott in mid swing as we play a new game he & my brother inlaw invented....Mountain Golf. They built a 9 hole course in the forest. Was soooo fun!

and um...some more parties.

Can never have too many pool parties in Phoenix! It's been 110+ for several days....& it's only gonna get hotter! Pool parties a really a means of survival!
Me & a few of my Besties!

Whew! As always, time is FLYING by!!! I can hardly believe we've been home for almost a month! This week the fun continues! We're heading back to Rocky Point, Mexico for our brother's wedding. On Sunday, we're taking a bus from Rocky Point to Mazatlan, Mexico for a big Schapker reunion brouhaha! Should be some awesome times & great pics. I'm anxious to see how the bus trip through Mexico goes! I promise to share that travel story!

Scott is currently in Vegas at his brother's bachelor party....hope we don't have a repeat of the movie Hangover on our hands! After the dust settles from these last couple weeks of vacation, reality sets in.....I'm going back to work. I'm very excited to see my best nurse buddies & deliver some babies. Looking forward to 12 hour shifts....not so much! But hey....gotta refill the cruising kitty.

Scott will be returning to Malaika in August to start the "boat projects" to get us ready for the next cruising season. Any tips on SSB would be much appreciated.

Love & Miss everybody! I hope to do better with the blog. The truth is...I've missed it! The adventures continue with Scott Michelle Voyage! Stay tuned!!! XXXOOO

It will take a month to install the SSB. Go with the KISS grounding cable, buy the special high voltage wire that will run up to the isolator. make sure you put a loop in the high voltage cable so water doesn't run down inside the jacket. Get the auto tuner as close as possible to the antenna. BUy more PL-257 connectors than you need. have a strong soldering iron, if you want the dsc capabilities of the radio you'll have to run an additional VHF antenna. bla bla boa..... yea a month! between running cable finding parts, doing the body origami moves, (a month) see if her remembers me telling him that. and whats your contact info. Lindsey is in Kona now until August. then we'll drive back across country sight seeing then back to kindred then back to the bahamas. got a bunch of boats leaving out from the pan handle. obviously we cruise in company with Malika and her miscreants!

Thanks for the tips Matt! I'm sure Scott will be calling ya for advice. He's going to move the boat from Green Cove Springs back to St. Augustine in early August & do the work at Hidden Harbor. I'll join him @ the end of September. So glad to hear you & Lindsey are going back to the Bahamas! Flotilla!

Buy Iridium. Screw SSB. Its bullshit overhyped crap that no one uses. PLUS, Iridium you can play on Facebook still! Does SSB offer that now?

If wx. and talking a thousand miles to an other boat is the goal it Is a good deal. They need a good rf ground, diferent than a dc. ground. ie foil in the bildge, or a bronze plate on the hull, or both. I love mine, as a ham op. I have talked from Exumas to Maine with 90 watts. Dan
