Family Time

Scott with his Momma & Papa in Marsh Harbor, Bahamas
We have been having the BEST time with our family the past 2 weeks. Malaika was like a real life cruise ship with our 1st guests Danny & Kyung disembarking at 6am. Malaika's crew spent the day cleaning up & restocking supplies just in time for Scott's parents to arrive at 7pm. Yay!! Unfortunately, they arrived on the same schedule as a cold front blowing through. They had a bumpy 1st night on the boat. Thank you very much Mother Nature! We decided to change locations where we would have better protection....but that meant traveling in some bumpy seas. Malaika was rolling back & forth pretty good with 4-5ft waves on the beam. Pam & Alan handled it like a couple of pros! The trip was worth it because our new anchorage was much more comfortable & still allowed us access to Marsh Harbor, where we were stuck for a couple of days due to weather. No rain but COLD & WINDY!! The coldest day Scott & I have ever experienced in the Bahamas.

Me & Pam bundled up under the HEATER!! Brrrr!
Thankfully, the 3rd day warmed up & the wind calmed down. We zipped over to Tahiti Beach to enjoy some fun in the sun before the next cold front was due...in 36 hours! No matter...we are just happy to be together & took advantage of the sunshine when it was available.

Mom & Dad finally enjoying some sunshine cruising on Malaika!

Tahiti Beach
After some much needed fun in the sun we headed into a marina to wait out the next big blow. We went to Sea Spray Marina which although a little pricey ($1.90/ft), I can highly recommend because the staff & facilities were awesome. We hung out around the marina the rest of the afternoon enjoying the 2 for $5 beers (unheard of in the Bahamas) and the free moonshine shots! We also got to shower!! Yay! :)

Birthday Boy
Day 4 we celebrated Scott's 41st Birthday! How special that his parents were here in the Bahamas for his special day! We had an awesome day touring Hopetown.

1st stop...the world famous lighthouse.

Look close & you can see everybody way up there atop the lighthouse

Jib is not allowed in the lighthouse, so he & I hung out down below.

Not allowed in the lighthouse, not allowed in the park! What's going on?!

The Schapker's hanging out at Hopetown Beach

Hey! Some more Schapker's! The originals!

Old Salts
We are now in Treasure Cay after an awesome sail yesterday...The 1st time we've been able to sail since Mom & Dad arrived so it was great. We're heading out now to dive the wreck & catch some dinner! We now have awesome Internet so I will do another blog tonight or tomorrow.

Love & Miss everybody!

Love--Michelle, Scott & Jib
