It seems unbelievable but the time has come to plan our trip home to the U.S. Its a bittersweet feeling. We are VERY VERY excited to see our families & friends....but it's hard to say goodbye to the islands. We are so lucky to be able to spend 1/2 the year here. We're going to play around for another week or so & then cross the Gulf Stream back to Florida. We'll re-enter at Ft. Pierce...you can see it at the top left hand corner of the map. After that...we're still unsure. While we LOVE St. Augustine, we have found a couple other places to keep the boat during hurricane season that are a little cheaper....and when your semi-retired....that counts for a lot. One place we are considering is "Green Cove Springs" in Florida. We're also thinking about St Mary's, Georgia. Both places are very well protected in regards to the hurricane thing, and are quite affordable. The advantage of St Mary's is that we could visit Cumberland Island again! Loved that place! The advantage of Green Cove Springs is that it's fairly close to St Augustine & MANY of our cruiser friends also keep their boats there....which gives us a certain level of comfort/security. Hmmmm....I guess we'll just see where the wind takes us.
Time to Sail... :) |
I'm going to miss the islands. But....when you're a traveler...this is part of the adventure. New places, new horizons, new journeys. We are so lucky.

I don't know what my Internet capabilities will be this next few days. I'll do a blog whenever I can.
Love you!
