The past 2 days we've continued our journey south on the ICW ( Intercoastal Waterway). Passed through the Dismal Swamp...which I loved.. & now cruising down the Alligator River. I like the canal cruising because there aren't any waves ! It's like floating down the salt river in our lovely sailboat. :)

Cruising the Alligator River |
Our friend Lylaine asked if we are becoming good boat mechanics & if boat parts are easy to find we get to port. We definetly (mostly Scott) are becoming better boat mechanics & don't totally freak out when we hear strange noises but there is SO MUCH to learn. It's like taking Anatomy & Physiology all over again...only a new creature. I think that's what we find the most nerve racking...we are so used to totally understanding our job & being prepared for almost every situation that could happen. We are like new grads again. Interns. Sometimes, it's down right terrifying. Boat parts are easy to find. What's not easy is getting to the store that sells the boat parts. We no longer have a vehicle. When we anchor somewhere we have to walk to where ever we're going & then of coarse, walk back..with our purchases. Like the other day, we walked about 4 miles in search of a shower curtain. We never found one. We ended up buying one from Cheri, she had an extra. It's all part of the adventure! We had a great time walking those 4 miles & met some very nice people in this fine state of North Carolina. Everywhere we went they asked us if we were "boat people". Not sure yet if that's good or bad?!
